Release Date : 26/12/2010
Starring: Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell

The Burlesque Lounge has its best days behind it. Tess, a retired dancer and owner of the venue, struggles to keep the aging theater alive, facing all kinds of financial and artistic challenges. With the Lounge's troupe members becoming increasingly distracted by personal problems and a threat coming from a wealthy businessman's quest to buy the spot from Tess, the good fortune seems to have abandoned the club altogether. Meanwhile, the life of Ali, a small-town girl from Iowa, is about to change dramatically. Hired by Tess as a waitress at the Lounge, Ali escapes a hollow past and quickly falls in love with the art of burlesque. Backed by newfound friends amongst the theater's crew, she manages to fulfill her dreams of being on stage herself. Things take a dramatic turn though when Ali's big voice makes her become the main attraction of the revue.

As expected, the films released during 2008 lived up to lofty expectations, with Avatar being the standout performer which took the honour of highest grossing film of the year.

Other great films included The Twilight Saga, Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince, Transformers, Up and the much anticipated Sex & the City movie. The great news is there were films to appeal to all types of cinema-goers, and the box office statistics stand testament to that fact!

Following this trend 2009 looks certain to push the record books to even greater heights. Stephen Basil-Jones (Chairman of the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia) had this to say about the year ahead,

“Despite the current economic climate, history has shown that we can look forward to a very positive 2009 and another great year where people choose to escape to the movies for great value-for-money entertainment”.

Cinema goers will again be tantalised in 2010 with another year of blockbuster titles to delight young and old. Look out for action-adventure blockbusters Iron Man 2 and The Clash of the Titans, comedies When in Rome and Shrek 4 along with a smattering of animated favourites like Toy Story 3 and Despicable me. Remember me will be sure to captivate cinema goers meanwhile the final chapter  Harry Potter and the  Deathly Hallows will surely cast a spell on audiences throughout Australia.

Continue to watch this spot as records look set to be challenged again this year.
